geochemical analysis

    0.04 sec.

geochemical analysis

Archaeological technique that involves taking soil samples at regular intervals from the surface of a site and its surroundings to identify, through phosphorus concentrations in the soil, human settlements and activity and burial areas within sites. Excrement and bone are relatively high in phosphorus content, so human activity and remains tend to produce comparatively large concentrations of phosphates.
