giant| In many mythologies and folklore, a person of extraordinary size, often characterized as stupid and aggressive. In Greek mythology the giants grew from the spilled blood of Uranus and rebelled against the gods. During the Middle Ages, wicker effigies of giants were carried in midsummer processions in many parts of Europe and sometimes burned. |
