glass snake

Any of a worldwide group of legless lizards. Their tails are up to three times the head–body length and are easily broken off. (Genus Ophisaurus, family Anguidae.)

The eastern glass lizard (O. ventralis) grows to 1.1 m/36 in and inhabits wet grasslands in the southeastern US.
