The aging process has deleterious effects on renal function, with decreases in renal weight and number of glomeruli in subjects older than 50. In the kidneys, sometimes rare mononuclear leukocytes in a few glomeruli were positive. Further study of the mutant mice revealed that the animals had smaller-than-average glomeruli, the odor-detecting units of the nose, but the rodents had many more of them than usual. |
