glove box

In high technology, a protective device used when handling toxic, radioactive, or sterile materials within an enclosure containing a window for viewing. Gloves fixed to ports in the walls of a box allow manipulation of objects within the box. The risk that the operator might inhale fine airborne particles of poisonous materials is removed by maintaining a vacuum inside the box, so that any airflow is inwards.
