gluonIn physics, a gauge boson that carries the strong nuclear force, responsible for binding quarks together to form the strongly interacting subatomic particles known as hadrons. There are eight kinds of gluon. Gluons cannot exist in isolation; they are believed to exist in balls (‘glueballs’) that behave as single particles. The existence of glueballs has not yet been definitely confirmed. |
