graphic scores

    0.04 sec.

graphic scores

In music, scores by 20th-century composers which seek to convey musical ideas by means of nontraditional notation. Some scores are intended to symbolize particular sounds or textures, others allow the interpreter more latitude. Examples are by Morton Feldman, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, György Ligeti, Sylvano Bussotti, and Cornelius Cardew. Graphic scores have been admired as much for their visual as their musical qualities.
