gravure

One of the three main printing methods, in which printing is done from a plate etched with a pattern of recessed cells in which the ink is held. The greater the depth of a cell, the greater the strength of the printed ink. Gravure plates are expensive to make, but the process is economical for high-volume printing and reproduces illustrations well.

The exhibition is especially unique because it features five pairs of gravures, prints created with the photogravure process, by Stieglitz that he printed in his career and chose to reprint years later.
Labels printed by gravure using up to seven colors on special release papers and transferred to containers at speeds to 500 labels/min using special applying equipment.
Pertinent Data: The film is available in thicknesses of 35 to 1,000 microns in matte or glossy finish on one or both sides, accepts standard non-porous inks, and is compatible with all printing processes including hydrographic, screen, offset, flexographic and gravure.
