Greenbelt

Town in Prince George's County, central Maryland; population (1990) 21,100. It is located 18 km/11 mi northeast of Washington, DC. A residential suburb, it was built in 1935–38 by the Federal Resettlement Administration, to provide housing for families of moderate income. Some of the parklands that surrounded it were set aside for development as Greenbelt Regional Park.

Greenbelt will alter the existing one-story warehouse on the site and will construct five new stories with eight residential units and one commercial unit.
To alter the new greenbelt ordinance, four of the five supervisors would have to agree and hold a public hearing.
The park, located in the Barber Valley, will be named for his wife, Marianne Williams, and will feature two miles of greenbelt pathways, more than one mile of river frontage and open space with natural settings.
