Nellie charts the ways that the community has organized itself for survival, even as Francie does for herself, including her need to protect herself from various kinds of predators and sexual harassers. The scenes portray both genders as harassers and demonstrate equal and unequal power situations--for example, situations where the student is the harasser and the faculty member is the victim. |
