hart's-tongueFern with straplike undivided fronds, up to 60 cm/24 in long, which have clearly visible brown spore-bearing organs on the undersides. The plant is native to Europe, Asia, and eastern North America, and is found on walls, in shady rocky places, and in woods. (Phyllitis scolopendrium, family Polypodiaceae.)
