Species of hawk belonging to the genera Spitzaetus and Morphuus, order Falconiformes. Some species have well-developed crests which extend backwards from the crown of the head.

We report the isolation and characterization of a highly pathogenic avian influenza A/H5N1 virus from Crested Hawk-Eagles smuggled into Europe by air travel.
Over 300 species of birds have been seen at Bosque de Paz, including the Resplendent Quetzal and Ornate Hawk-eagle.
