heart-block

    0.01 sec.

heart-block

Faulty conduction of electrical impulses arising from the heart's pacemaker (the sinoatrial node), resulting in slowed pumping. It may be partial or complete, with no impulses being conducted (in which case the ventricles beat at their own, very slow rate). Congenital or acquired, it is remedied by insertion of an artificial pacemaker.
