helix

In mathematics, a three-dimensional curve resembling a spring, corkscrew, or screw thread. It is generated by a line that encircles a cylinder or cone at a constant angle.

Helix

Genus of snails. H. hortensis is the common European snail, and H. pomatia, also found in Britain, is the Roman snail.

Classification

Helix is in subclass Pulmonata, class Gastropoda, phylum Mollusca.
