helminth

In medicine, collective name used to describe parasitic worms. There are several classes of helminth that can cause infections in humans, including ascarids (ascariasis), tapeworms, and threadworms.

Eosinophilia encompasses a wide range of differential diagnoses, including a wealth of non-infectious conditions such as adverse drug effects, allergies, rheumatological disorders (which lead the list of differential diagnoses in affluent, temperate regions of the world that are seemingly largely devoid of helminths), and helminthic infections, particularly with tissue-dwelling parasites.
Among other helminthic infections, the most popular ones are ancylostomiasis, strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis and taeniasis.
