henbanePoisonous plant belonging to the nightshade family, found on waste ground throughout most of Europe and western Asia. It is a branching plant, up to 80 cm/31 in high, with hairy leaves and a sickening smell. The yellow flowers are bell-shaped. Henbane is used in medicine as a source of the drugs hyoscyamine and scopolamine. (Hyoscyamus niger, family Solanaceae.) How to thank TFD for its existence?
