heterosexuality

Sexual preference for, or attraction mainly to, persons of the opposite sex.

Heterosexuality has been long regarded in many cultures as the only acceptable expression of sexuality, but this view has been challenged by both feminists and the gay liberation movement as oppressive.

What makes abstinence-only education even more counterproductive for these kids is the hidden but dually intolerant message: "You shouldn't have sex until you get married and, by the way, if you happen to be anything other than heterosexual you can't get married.
A total of 83% of women and 66% of men said their health care provider assumed they were heterosexual.
Approximately three quarters of new infections among women were attributed to the heterosexual exposure category (endemic and non-endemic together) and the remainder was attributed to the injecting drug user exposure category.
