Hillside

Township in Union County, northeastern New Jersey; population (1990) 21,000. It is adjacent to Elizabeth and Newark, which lie to its west and northwest. Its many manufactures include metal castings, tools, paper and cork products, processed foods, and insulated wire. It is also a residential suburb.
