triple jump

Track and field event in athletics comprising a hop, step, and jump sequence from a takeoff board into a sandpit landing area measuring 8 m/26.25 ft (minimum) in length. The takeoff board is usually 13 m/42.65 ft from the landing area. Each competitor has six trials and the winner is the one who covers the longest distance.
