Hull

Shortened name of Kingston upon Hull, a city and unitary authority on the north bank of the Humber estuary, northeast England.

Hull

City in southern Québec, Canada, on the north shore of the Ottawa River opposite Ottawa; population (1991) 60,700. Its industries include pulp, paper, cement, meat packing, clothing, timber, concrete blocks, and jewellery. There are four large electricity-generating stations within the city and its surroundings. Hull is the shopping centre for a prosperous farming community, and has a number of government offices. The Canadian Museum of Civilization, a branch of the Université du Québec, and a music conservatory are located in the city.

It was settled in the early 19th century and incorporated in 1875.
