hurdles

Sprint events in which competitors must clear 10 barriers, the hurdles. Most athletic competitions have two hurdles events: the 110-metre hurdles (100 metres for women) and the 400-metre hurdles. In the men's 110-metre hurdles the barriers are 107 cm/42.13 in high, and the 400-metre hurdles are 91 cm/35.83 in high; the 100-metre hurdles for women are 84 cm/33.07 in high, and the 400-metre hurdles measure 76 cm/29.92 in.
