A team of huskies pulling a sledge in the Arctic. Huskies, originally from Siberia, were introduced as sled dogs in the Arctic in the early 20th century. The dogs have a dense coat of hair, that allows them to live outdoors in extreme conditions.

Any of several breeds of sledge dog used in Arctic regions, growing up to about 60 cm/23 in high, and weighing up to about 27 kg/60 lbs, with pricked ears, thick fur, and a bushy tail. The Siberian husky is the best known.
