Geim blames this shortcoming on polyimide's hydrophilicity, that is, its tendency to attract water.
Coagulants used for controlling these contaminants collectively have low molecular weight and high charge density, but they have significant differences in molecular weight, structure, charge contribution, and relative hydrophilicity," he said.
Electron microscope units that specialize in virus preparative or diagnostic techniques prepare their own plastic-coated, carbon-stabilized films, and glow discharge the films to improve hydrophilicity, particle adherence, and distribution of both sample and stain (36,37).
