hypnotic

Any substance (such as barbiturate, benzodiazepine, alcohol) that depresses brain function, inducing sleep. Prolonged use may lead to physical or psychological addiction.

Over the last 25 years they have created hypnotically slow works that transport you to a time and place that is somehow preverbal, where there is not much difference between animals, plants, and humans.
The petals of the flower seem to tuck into one another hypnotically, their prominent swirling fringes intersecting and curving back.
