The process of removing excess fluid during dialysis has historically resulted in a symptomatic dialysis with large numbers of patients experiencing nausea, vomiting, hypotension and cramps. In Japan, Dops, which is a precursor of norepinephrine, is currently available for the treatment of frozen gait and dizziness associated with Parkinson's disease, and vertigo, dizziness and fatigue associated with orthostatic hypotension in hemodialysis patients. Finally, our patient's ongoing labile hypotension may represent Lassa fever-induced damage to the brain stem with resultant autonomic dysfunction. |
