impermeable rock

    0.01 sec.

impermeable rock

Rock that does not allow water to pass through it – for example, clay, shale, and slate. Unlike permeable rocks, which absorb water, impermeable rocks can support rivers. They therefore experience considerable erosion (unless, like slate, they are very hard) and commonly form lowland areas.
