indri

Largest living lemur of Madagascar. It is black and white, almost tailless, with long arms and legs, and grows to 70 cm/2.3 ft long. It lives in the trees and is active by day. Its howl is doglike or human in tone. Like all lemurs, its survival is threatened by the widespread deforestation of Madagascar. (Species Indri indri, family Indriidae.)
