information overload

Problem of workers being deluged under a flood of information that impairs their ability to perform their job. Technological advances, such as e-mail, the Internet, and the mobile phone, have exacerbated the situation. The problem of information overload should not be underestimated because it can cause workplace stress. Likely solutions include delegation to subordinates and learning to recognize the optimum amount of information required to make a decision.
