ink-jet printerComputer printer that creates characters and graphics by spraying very fine jets of quick-drying ink onto paper. Ink-jet printers range in size from small machines designed to work with microcomputers to very large machines designed for high-volume commercial printing. Because they produce very high-quality printing and are virtually silent, small ink-jet printers (along with laser printers) have largely replaced impact printers, such as dot-matrix and daisywheel, for use with microcomputers.
