integrated pest management

The use of a coordinated array of methods to control pests, including biological control, chemical pesticides, crop rotation, and avoiding monoculture. By cutting back on the level of chemicals used the system can be both economical and beneficial to health and the environment.

No two IPM programmes are alike, as soils, crops, and pests vary so much. The design of a successful IPM programme is highly dependent on the availability of accurate information about local conditions.
