Court order that forbids a person from doing something, or orders him or her to take certain action. Breach of an injunction is contempt of court.

In a recent decision, the Full Federal Court has set aside an interlocutory injunction granted against Smith & Nephew in June of this year.
Earlier Tuesday, Gold Reserve announced that the Ontario Superior Court of Justice has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Rusoro from proceeding with any hostile takeover bid for the company, until a trial of an action started by Gold Reserve reaches its conclusion.
Mr Justice Clarke said the Sunday World could be notified by phone of short service of the interlocutory injunction proceedings returnable to the court for today.
