papilloma

Overgrowth of cells at the surface of tissues, such as skin, bladder or intestinal lining. Papillomas are localized and usually benign. A wart is a papilloma.

Choanal and antrochoanal polyps are often unilateral, and inverted papilloma should always be included in the differential diagnosis.
However, the gland proliferation in inverted papilloma is located only in the base of the papilloma, where it arises from the nasal epithelium and not throughout the lesion as in the READ hamartoma.
The diagnosis of inverted papilloma was made following postoperative histopathologic analysis.
