iridology

Diagnostic technique based on correspondences between specific areas of the iris and bodily functions and organs.

It was discovered in the 19th century independently by a Hungarian and a Swedish physician, and later refined and developed in the USA by Bernard Jensen. Iridology is of proven effectiveness in monitoring general well-being and indicating the presence of organic disorders, but cannot be as specific about the nature and extent of these as orthodox diagnostic techniques.
