Ischia

Volcanic island about 26 km/16 mi southwest of Naples, Italy, in the Tyrrhenian Sea; population (2000 est) 50,000. It has mineral springs (known to the Romans), beautiful scenery, and is a holiday resort. The chief town is also Ischia; population (1991) 16,000.
