ivy

Any of an Old World group of woody climbing, trailing, or creeping evergreen plants. English or European ivy (H. helix) has shiny five-lobed leaves and clusters of small, yellowish-green flowers followed by black berries. It climbs by means of rootlike suckers put out from its stem, and causes damage to trees. (Genus Hedera, family Araliaceae.)

Ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea) is a small, originally European creeping plant belonging to the mint family; the North American poison ivy (Rhus radicans) belongs to the cashew family.

Ivies are grown in hanging baskets, around windows, made to trail around picture frames and looking glasses; indeed, they may be made decorative in the highest degree.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case and ivies apparent thuggish behaviour on buildings and trees is often met with an army of chemicals and pruning tools to suppress it.
Unfortunately, they are not the only ones, a flock of sheep found their way up to the car park and, before anyone discovered them, they ate all the ivy leaves on the lower four feet of many of the ivies.
