juneberry

Any tree or shrub of the genus Amelanchier of the rose family, having simple leaves, showy white flowers, and purple-black fruits. The Allegheny serviceberry Amelanchier lavis, native to the northeastern USA, grows to a height of 40 ft/12 m and has edible fruit. Several species are grown as ornamentals.
