juniper

Any of a group of aromatic evergreen trees or shrubs of the cypress family, found throughout temperate regions. Junipers produce a valuable wood and their berries are used to flavour gin and in cooking. Some junipers are mistakenly called cedars. (Genus Juniperus, family Cupressaceae.)
