Kayaker on Eclipse Sound, in the Arctic. Traditional kayaks built by Inuit people are made of wood, whalebone, and animal skins, with an opening for the single paddler.

Long, narrow, sealskin-covered boat with a small opening in the middle for the paddler. Used by Inuit fishers and sealers, it has been adapted for recreational use.
