kea

Hawklike greenish parrot found in New Zealand. It eats insects, fruits, and discarded sheep offal. The Maori name imitates its cry. (Species Nestor notabilis, family Psittacidae, order Psittaciformes.) In 2000 there were only about 2,000 keas remaining.
