keratitis

In medicine, eye disease characterized by inflammation of the cornea. This may be the result of mechanical trauma, for example being hit in the eye, contact with chemicals, or infection with bacteria or viruses. The affected eye is red and painful and those affected should avoid exposure to light due to sensitivity. Treatment varies depending on the cause of the disorder.
