key relationships

key relationships

In music, key relationships may be close or remote, based largely on the similarity of key signatures; for instance, in the key of C major the relation of the tonic chord (C) with the dominant (G) is close. The relation of C minor with E♭ major (its relative major) is also close, whereas the relation of C major with E♭ major is less close. Transference from one key to another may be abrupt or may be effected by modulation.
