Alternative name for dynamics. It is distinguished from kinematics, which deals with motion without reference to force or mass.

kinetics

Branch of chemistry that investigates the rates of chemical reactions. Kinetics is taught as a part of physical chemistry, but its main use is to investigate mechanisms in other disciplines, including organic, inorganic, and biochemistry.
