In music, a term used to counteract previous notation (‘8ve’) calling for the performance of music at an octave higher or lower than normal; it indicates that the music is to return to its normal ‘place’ on the stave.

This first novel features some memorable characters, such as Leon's kooky parents: his father fancies himself an inventor, and they're "food disaster hobbyists," trying all kinds of awful recipes from old cookbooks.
Credit the quintet's attention to detail: Mouth harp and banjo offset the caustic lyrics of "I Can't Decide" ("If lies were cats / You'd be a litter") with Appalachian playfulness, while kooky keyboard arpeggios ripple through the funky "Ooh.
People start to see you a certain way, and there's such a wacky, kooky side to me.
