sycamoreAny of several Eurasian trees of the genus Platanus of the family Plantanaceae. Species include the oriental plane tree P. orientalis, a favorite of the Greeks and Romans; the American sycamore P. occidentalis of the eastern USA; and the Arizona sycamore P. wrightii.
