Lauder

Town and former royal burgh in Scottish Borders unitary authority, Scotland, situated on Leader Water, 42 km/26 mi southeast of Edinburgh; population (2001) 1,100. In 1482 Robert Cochrane and six other royal favourites were hanged on Lauder Bridge in a demonstration by members of the Scottish nobility against James III and his policies.
