Lear

Opera by Aribert Reimann (libretto by C Henneberg after Shakespeare), first produced in Munich, Germany, on 9 July 1978. King Lear disowns his faithful daughter Cordelia after she is unable to express her love for him, dividing his kingdom between his treacherous daughters Goneril and Regan instead. Lear becomes insane and they all die.
