The duct lies above the lingual nerve in the floor of the mouth. The prestyloid compartment contains the internal maxillary artery, the lingual nerve, the inferior alveolar nerve, and the auriculotemporal nerve. Care must be taken to avoid injury to the lingual nerve and submandibular duct. |
