LISP

High-level computer-programming language designed for manipulating lists of data items. It is used primarily in research into artificial intelligence (AI).

Developed in the late 1950s, and until recently common only in university laboratories, LISP is used more in the USA than in Europe, where the language PROLOG is often preferred for AI work.
