1 Given each parent's genetic makeup, assign an uppercase letter for a dominant allele (one that expresses a visible trait) and a lowercase letter for a recessive allele (one that is masked by a dominant trait).
According to their nomenclature scheme, ITS1 alleles are designated by using an uppercase letter associated with a numerical subscript, and ITS2 alleles are designated by using a lowercase letter also associated with a numerical subscript.
The cover provides the first hint that this is a concept book with a capital C: rows of random upper- and lowercase letters fill the cover, while the black die-cut jacket exposes the title hidden within those letters.
