Lulu

Unfinished opera by Alban Berg (libretto by the composer), based on Frank Wedekind's plays Erdgeist and Die Büchse der Pandora). Acts 1 and 2 and a fragment of 3 were produced in Zürich, Switzerland, on 2 June 1937. The third act was realized by Friedrich Cerha and the first complete performance was given in Paris, France, on 24 February 1979, conducted by Pierre Boulez. In the story, the femme fatale Lulu leaves a trail of corpses but is killed by Jack the Ripper.
